Why Rescue? Around 35 percent of all puppies , never live out their lives in the first home. This doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with the dogs. Sometimes divorce, loss of home and new family members( a new baby). Just naming a few reasons. I have had people return dogs because they find their lives are to busy, they find the dog is to large and some that even take of different relationships that the new partner is afraid of big dogs. Lightening and Thunder and Bandit came from a home were they were bought just for breeding. Not caring about what the dogs needed. They lived in small cages, and lacked vet care. When we went to look at Lightening and Thunder they were outside in the rain with no shelter. There was no food or water present. These dogs appreciate any attention they get. There is nothing wrong with them. So taking an a older dog has its advantages. You don't have to go through months of training a puppy to go outside, you don't have to pay out vet expenses for shots, spade or neuters and you don't have to worry about everything in your house being chewed up. These dogs only want to please you. I hope that there are people out there that can find it in their hearts to take on older dogs. Over 120,000 dogs a put to sleep a year through shelter and pounds. It is easy to sell and produce pups. It really don't take much to place a pup but to take on a rescue is so much more rewarding. If you are looking at this page I hope and pray that you find it in your heart to adopt one instead of a pup. If not here maybe though a local shelter or pound. Kathy at Candy rock |
